THE ALMOND TREE BOOK AND COFFEE SHOP – FALKIRK

Bookshop and Coffeeshop now closed
Please note
that this bookshop and coffeeshop has now closed. We are very thankful  to our patrons for there support over the years in our coffeeshop.

The Almond Tree book and coffee shop was opened in early 2001, adjacent to the Falkirk Church. The shop proved very popular with the local community and was used for many useful outreach occasions.

Owned by Struthers Memorial Church and operated by paid staff and volunteers, the bookshop provided seating for 80 persons over two levels and offered a wide stock of Christian books as well as music, DVDs, gifts and cards.  Selling full meals, homemade soups, sandwiches, snacks and a wide range of cakes in a relaxed atmosphere, the Almond Tree became a very popular place to visit and welcomed many visitors.

A stained-glass window was commissioned to be placed against the original church stained-glass window with lighting in-between, thereby one window can be viewed from each side. The new window is based upon the Fruits of the Spirit as depicted in Galatians Ch. 5 vs. 22-23. These are: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. The window was later dedicated to the memory of Mr Hugh Black, co-founder of Struthers Memorial Church.

BOOKS BY HUGH B. BLACK

The bookshop has a large selection of books which Mr Black, one of the founding ministers of the church, wrote towards the end of his long life of Christian service. These books cover themes that were very dear to him e.g. salvation, the baptism in the Holy Spirit, healing, deliverance and revival, as well as studies on some of the great men of faith in the Bible. The books contain a wealth of Christian teaching but also amazing insights and anecdotes which make them very enjoyable reading. The leaflet above shows all of the books by Mr Black and these are available to purchase from the New Dawn Bookshop or using this order form.

If you wish to purchase any of Mr Black’s books by mail or email, please download and complete our Books Order Form below and send it to the address on the form or email it to thealmondtree@struthers-church.org
