We had 80 folks at our meeting in Bray, near Dublin, on Friday the 9th September. Gavin began our meeting with welcoming folks and had a time of song. Kathy followed by giving a very good testimony to salvation, baptism in the Holy Spirit and deliverance. Following this, I brought a word from Romans 8 on the 'overwhelming victory of Christ.' Between 30-40 came for prayer at the end of the service. There was one who came to Christ, seven baptisms in the Holy Spirit and many who received help and some deliverance from various fears and bondages. The ministry team were tired but very happy with the evening's labours and 'went on their way rejoicing.' We are very grateful to God for His rich anointing that gives us boundless energies for His work. We also had an excellent time in Wales on the weekend of 24th September.
We began with a Saturday morning meeting in Merthyr Tydfil. Around 50 gathered in the community centre. Helen led a time of singing after Gareth made his introductions. He referred to various verses from Nehemiah which had been used in our Cumbernauld Sunday night service the previous week. Gavin from Merthyr sang a solo about the Cross before Jheena gave a very moving testimony to salvation, baptism in the Holy Spirit and a time when she had suffered the loss of a child. She described how heart broken she was and yet it led to a turning point in her life where she began to find Christ more deeply. I then brought a word from Ephesians 3:16-17. I spoke of the unlimited resources of God and how He wants to make His home in our hearts. There were a good number who responded to the call for ministry and came to the front for prayer. We were very pleased that one life came to Christ and another young man received his baptism in the Holy Spirit amongst this number. On Saturday evening we had a tarry meeting. A number gathered from Neath and Merthyr Tydfil. We spent the hour in prayer, seeking a deeper knowledge of the Living God. There came a wonderful presence of God amongst us. We were very pleased that the lady who came to Christ in the morning got her baptism in the Holy Spirit at night. There was quite a lot of personal ministry during this meeting. One lady told me at the end it was the first time she had found peace and the presence of God in 3 years. We were very satisfied with His goodness. On Sunday morning over 50 folks gathered for the communion service. Helen began the meeting with a time of worship. I preached from the verse: Matthew 26:27 'And He took the cup and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink ye all of it."' There followed a beautiful time of worship before we shared the bread and wine together. After the meeting was over another gentlemen came and gave his heart to Christ. We were delighted for him. Overall, it was a very good weekend. We give thanks to God for His wonderful presence that was with us. Diana Rutherford Struthers Memorial Church, Cumbernauld
Following our fruitful visit last October to Bray, near Dublin, Graham and I arranged with Gavin and Kathy to make a second trip on 11 March this year. Gavin contacted the folks who had come over to help with ministry on our last trip and they were all willing to come with us and support the meeting which was fabulous. Kathy went to a lot of trouble organising a lovely hall in the Esplanade Hotel on the seafront in Bray. She advertised the meeting on a local Christian radio station and in bookshops for a number of weeks before the event. We were not disappointed with the numbers that gathered for the meeting: there were around 60 folks who came. Gavin introduced the evening with some singing which was very rich before Mark Rodgers gave an excellent testimony to salvation. Following this, I brought the word from Acts ch. 2, and spoke of the baptism in the Holy Spirit. Around 30 folk responded to the appeal for prayer; some seeking their baptism and some with various other needs. The ministry team had a late night! We were delighted to see at least 14 people receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit and many others getting help of one sort or another. We made lots of new contacts and hope to visit again later in the year. We praise God for His rich anointing and blessing upon us. Diana Rutherford Struthers Memorial Church Cumbernauld |
